The Other- by David Guterson

When your best friend goes of the expected path and asks you to keep danger our secrets, what do you do? How do you react? This book is a story of two young men and the ties they developed as their life paths diverge. An excellent read.

East of the Sun- by Julia Gregson

East of the Sun is one of those books that takes the reader to (not very) far away and (not so) long ago. It's the early 20th century when young British ladies of marriagable age went to India, either to marry the British military man of their dreams or, just as often, to find the man of their dreams. Travel was by sailing ship and thus, these voyages became known as "the fishing fleet" This is the story of three young women, the friends (and enemies?) they meet on their voyage, and the remarkable lives they find for themselves in India. I couldn't stop reading!

South of Broad- by Pat Conroy

Pat Conroy's writing is so beautiful that I would read anything he wrote - even if it were on the back of a milk carton. He doesn't even have to tell me a story.
In "South of Broad", though, Mr. Conroy does tell a story, and a great one. It's the story of a life, with its tragedies, loves, and victories. It's an amazing story.
Read it.
